Studies with Rimonabant and Tobacco Use: Rimonabant,
a new pill developed to fight obesity is being tested on humans
for other benefits as well such as control of smoking. According
to its maker Sanofi-Aventis, the diet pill can fight obesity, kill
the urge to smoke, stop cocaine addiction and obliterate marijuana
and alcohol cravings.
Studies conducted on rimonabant have shown that
people on the pill could not just lose weight but keep it off for
two years — a feat no other diet pill has achieved so far.
Like a double-action pill, Rimonabant can combat the world's two
leading causes of death: smoking and obesity. Rimonabant has also
been called anti-marijuana because it blocks hungry signals experienced
by smokers of the herb.
Unfortunately, it is not that simple for all the obese people around
the world to smoothen their weight loss training and even by abiding
a weight loss tips, they are unable to avert the risk of life threatening
obesity related diseases. Especially in cases of morbid obesity,
where the Body Mass Index (BMI) is beyond 40, the doctor usually
recommends drug therapy in conjunction to the lifestyle changes
to prevent the risk of life-threatening obesity related diseases.
Rimonabant works by selectively blocking some of the receptors
in the endocannabinoid system, balancing the overstimulated systems
of both smokers and obese people. By blocking the signals, the overeater
or nicotine addict does not have the same urge to eat or smoke.

that people who’ve used this drug were able to quit and stay
off cigarettes significantly and also did not put on weight that

it’s going to rule the diet pill market for years to come.
