Surgery should be the last option to treat Obesity

The alarming obesity rates have raised concern
among health experts in US as they warn obese patients to consider
surgery as the last treatment option. An approval nod from Medicare
to cover the costs of Bariatric surgeries has also increased surgery
rates in America.
A practicing physician at Cedars -Sinai Medical
Center in Los Angels, Peter Pressman said, operations performed
on patients to lose weight rapidly can save their lives but poor
patient selection by doctors in haste can cause life threatening
situations. Patients today do not consider options like weight loss
plans or diet pill treatment methods but directly take to surgeries
for rapid weight loss. Pressman adds that proper awareness and a
healthy lifestyle can control the growth of obesity to a good extend.
