Schools across the nation of Australia will be
forced to keep junk food out of tuck shops under a Howard Government
plan to combat obesity and weight-related diseases. The states will
be asked at COAG today to sign up to a new $1billion health strategy
that puts greater emphasis on preventing people getting sick. Under
the plan, those with chronic diseases will have access to nutritional
advice, weight management and counseling to give up bad habits.
GPs, nurses and allied health workers will receive
$500million to promote healthy lifestyles and prevention programs
that will focus on people suffering from diabetes, asthma, heart
disease and arthritis. The healthy lifestyle programs will target
children through national guidelines for school canteens, to be
enforced by the states, which will get junk food out of school tuck
shops.
Obesity is gradually taking the shape of an epidemic.
The dreaded ailment can be overcome by the usage of diet pills such
as phentermine, Adipex, Xenical and Accomplia.
