Sanofi's report in UK support website for diet
pill Acomplia (rimonabant) regarding the drug either helps to quit
smoking or not, making some disgusting response to the resident
of US and European regulators.
At the beginning of this year, both the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) and European Medicines Agency (EMEA) stringent the fact that
the Acomplia was not approved for the use as smoking cessation aid.
The official support site, "It's What You Gain," for users
of rimonabant in Britain gives answer of the FAQ "Can I take
Acomplia to help me quit smoking," as
"Please contact the Sanofi Aventis medical information department
on 01483 554919, who will be happy to discuss this with you".
This is an ambiguous answer and in some manner it is looking as
the answer is fulminating to the restrictions of both FDA and EMEA
related to zimulti.
One short U.S. clinical trial of Acomplia which had given somewhat
promising result as a smoking cessation aid was reported by the
Acomplia diet drug developer Sanofi-Aventis. But, after that no
any subsequent disclosure was given by Sanofi which would prove
Acomplia as a smoking cessation aid.
Lastly here one thing still not going to be cleared that in the
response of the question whether the Acomplia is suitable for smoking
cessation or not, why the UK support site, "It's What You Gain,"
does not simply says that the rimonabant still awaiting for the
approval of its use as smoking cessation drug.
