Uncertainty of Acomplia approval for sale in Canada and Mexico
June 24, 2006
In July Sanofi-Aventis is planning to launch Acomplia
(rimonabant) in Britain. With this announcement of the diet drug
developer Sanofi-Aventis, thousands of Americans are attempting
to find out the solution of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) restrictions
of Acomplia for sale in United States so that they can purchase
the anti obesity drug Acomplia. Food and Drug Administration still
has not approved Acomplia for sale in the USA.
Yet there is good news for the USA residential which is that they
can purchase the diet drug Acomplia from British pharmacy (sometimes
called a chemist) after taking a prescription for it from a British
doctor. However, it's a very expensive option to purchase the diet
drug.
Thousands of Americans are very concerned about to know that if
the Acomplia will be approved for sale in Canada or Mexico. Since
these countries are very near to USA and thousands of Americans
travel these countries per year, they can purchase the drug from
these countries very easily.
The Canadian drug approval process is much slower than the FDA process
and also there are not signs that Sanofi has even filed for approval
of Acomplia in Canada. According to drug perceiver there is no any
ray of hope for approval of the diet drug.
The story in Mexico is also less clear. Although, Sanofi management
presented a slide show in February and made a proposal that Sanofi
can launch Acomplia for sale in 2006 but till this day there is
no report which states that Sanofi submitted any market application
for rimonabant to the Mexican regulatory authority.
