If Acomplia's developer Sanofi-Aventis decides
to change the weight-loss drug's name before bringing it to the
U.S. market then there are possibilities that the brand name may
be Celnec. Over the past few months, Acomplia's manufacturer Sanofi
was engaged in a bout of activity related to Celnec, reviving efforts
to secure the name with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Organization
and registering more than 90 Celnec internet addresses for popularizing
the name.
The speculation about Acomplia's name change was
fuelled by some of Sanofi's internet registrations which took place
less than three weeks ago on February 16, 2006. The names of some
of the sites registered by Sanofi-Aventis are acomplia-celnec.com,
celnec-acomplia.com, celnec-diet-pill.com, celnec-rimonabant.com,
and rimonabant-celnec.com.
