According to an analyst for Morgan Stanley, concerns over the safety
look of weight-loss drug Acomplia (Rimonabant) set to continue until
the drug is firmly established on the market.
As sources said that in a recent seminar some scientist
pointed the data which had shown that patients treated with Acomplia
in some of the clinical trials of the drug experienced less "joy"
than patients on placebo.
This report adds to concerns about Acomplia drug
that affects receptors in the brain and also focus on the 2.7-fold
higher rate of psychiatric disorders reported in clinical trials
among those receiving Acomplia vs. the placebo.
The FDA panel for the consideration of Acomplia drug has cancelled
all meeting scheduled until November.
