The world heart day on September 24th will also
raise the issue of life endangering disorder called Obesity. Globally,
more than one billion people are overweight and three hundred million
of them obese.
The consultant obesity surgeon at Ruby Hall Clinic
Dr Shashank Shah said, obesity is increasing in children and adults
and is associated with more than 30 medical conditions. He added
that more than 75 percent of hypertension cases are linked to obesity.
And the risks of heart diseases and diabetes have increased among
women who are over the normal weight. Though heart diseases can
be controlled partially by medication treatments like angioplasty,
lifestyle modifications like diet therapy and proper exercise patterns
can help patients keep good health and stay away from diseases.
